Making Health Care Clinics More Comfortable For Your Kids

A few months ago, I started thinking about the fact that I hadn't taken my kids to the doctor in a long time. I realized that I was late on a few of my son's checkups, so I made him an appointment with our family doctor. Unfortunately, since my son didn't know the doctor, he was pretty uncomfortable during the appointment. I had to figure out how to make my son comfortable and happy during the visit, which was a real challenge. This blog is all about making health care clinics as comfortable and happy as possible. Do you suffer from hemorrhoids? Have you avoided talking to someone about your hemorrhoids because you're too embarrassed to do so? Maybe you wouldn't be embarrassed if you realized how common hemorrhoids are. About 1 in 20 people in the United States have hemorrhoids. Besides causing embarrassment, these swollen veins in the rectum or anus cause pain, bleeding, and itching. Thankfully, there are some things you can do to get rid of them.

Here are 3 ways to get rid of hemorrhoids.

1. Over-the-Counter Medications

If your symptoms are mild, you may be able to treat them with over-the-counter medications. Treating your symptoms will decrease itching and irritation. This, in turn, can cause the hemorrhoids to shrink and subside. When using over-the-counter medications, look for ones that contain hydrocortisone or witch hazel. Both of these ingredients help to decrease the itching and inflammation. Eating high-fiber foods and soaking in a warm bath will further decrease the symptoms of hemorrhoids and help them go away.

2. Rubber Band Litigation

If your symptoms don't get any better after trying over-the-counter medications, getting rid of hemorrhoids may require a rubber band litigation. During this minimally invasive procedure, a doctor places tiny rubber bands around the base of the hemorrhoid area.

These rubber bands cut off circulation and cause the hemorrhoid to shrink and fall off. This procedure is usually either performed in the doctor's office or as an outpatient procedure. Rubber band litigation does not require anesthesia. When it comes to minimally invasive procedures, a couple more options include sclerotherapy or laser coagulation.

3. Hemorrhoidectomy Surgical Procedure

When you're trying to get rid of hemorrhoids and all else has failed, you may have to undergo a hemorrhoidectomy surgical procedure. This procedure does require anesthesia. It is also the most effective way to get rid of hemorrhoids. This is especially true if you have a severe case of hemorrhoids or a recurring case of them.

If you're like most people, you will experience some pain following a hemorrhoidectomy. Soaking in a warm bath and taking over-the-counter pain relievers will help. After a while, you will not only be pain-free but hemorrhoid-free, which means you can once again enjoy your life.

While it can be embarrassing to talk to you doctor about hemorrhoids, it's recommended to discuss this health issue. Besides being irritating and painful, hemorrhoids have been known to cause blood clots or extreme pain due to a strangulated hemorrhoid. Your doctor will help you determine which hemorrhoid removal method is best for you.
